The president's decision is interpreted as a sign of firm action in the face of possible improper practices detected in the agricultural subsidy distribution system. The case came to light last year, when European prosecutors identified several farmers who had illegally declared ownership of grazing land to access community aid. Investigations also examine the possible involvement of public officials in these events
