Russia launched a new offensive with missiles and drones against several regions of Ukraine during the early morning, causing fires in various sectors of Kiev and leaving at least seven dead and more than twenty injured in the city of Zaporizhzhia, according to Ukrainian authorities. The attack occurred amid an intensification of Russian bombings and recent Ukrainian strikes against Russian infrastructure.

In Kiev, several missiles struck industrial and storage areas, causing large fires that forced the deployment of dozens of firefighting crews and emergency teams. The local authorities reported that several warehouses and logistics buildings were damaged, while air defense systems attempted to intercept some of the projectiles launched against the capital.

The deadliest attack occurred in the city of Zaporizhzhia, where a missile hit the facilities of the Zaporizhstal steel plant as numerous workers were heading to the air raid shelters. Ukrainian authorities confirmed the death of seven workers and at least 24 people injured, in addition to significant damage to residential buildings located near the industrial complex.

President Volodymyr Zelensky stated that, in addition to Russian hypersonic missiles, Moscow used ballistic missiles supplied by North Korea during the offensive. According to the president, this fact confirms the growing military cooperation between the two countries and represents a new escalation of the conflict.

The new offensive occurs in a context of increasing exchanges of long-range attacks between both countries. In recent days, Ukraine struck refineries, fuel depots, and other strategic targets located inside Russia, while Moscow increased the use of ballistic missiles and drones against Ukrainian cities, taking advantage of the limitations of Kiev's air defense system.

As fighting continues, Ukrainian authorities maintain air alert across much of the country and warned that Russia could further intensify its bombings in the coming weeks. Zelensky insisted that Moscow "is preparing for greater escalation, not for peace," and reiterated the need for a firm response from the international community in light of the strengthening military alliance between Russia and North Korea.
