The influencer posted an extensive video on his social networks to respond to accusations related to the collection he organized to build a dog shelter
“If I did a collection where we collected 18,500,000 pesos and you put in 50 pesos, I can give you an account for the 50 pesos you put in. My life, you can't put in 50 pesos and ask me to account for 18 million 500 thousand
,” he said.
In any case, Maratea insisted that she has no problem explaining how the money was used.
“I have no drama in being held to account for every peso,” he said.
Santiago Maratea's response to Fernanda Iglesias and the photos of the dog shelter
Another of the strongest moments in the video was addressed to Fernanda Iglesias, whom the influencer questioned for having released the version that she did not submit to certain
mediations.
Maratea assured that he, too, had initiated a complaint against the journalist and maintained that he had not yet received a response from her side.
“Fernanda Iglesias is saying that I didn't show up for mediation when Fernanda Iglesias also filed a lawsuit for damages and never answered it. In other words, what a caradura,” he
said.
Then, he went directly to her and asked her to contact her to move forward with the procedure.
“I imagine it was a mistake, wasn't it, Fer? If so, contact me, you have my number, tell me what address I'm sending the lawsuit to and let's move forward with the mediation in which you didn't show up,” he added
.
Beyond personal questioning, the influencer dedicated the last minutes of his publication to defending the solidarity campaigns he organized and highlighting the commitment of those who collaborated financially.
“I want to make one thing very clear before I finish this video. What I am doing now and what I did the other day in PH is not only to defend my good name and honor, but also to defend a legacy of thousands and thousands of boys and girls who put money into collections to achieve incredible things,” he said.
In this regard, he stated that the accusations not only affect his public image, but also call into question the collective work of the people who participated in the initiatives.
“I'm not going to allow three, four people who want to install that in Argentina everything is always shit, that nothing will ever change and that everyone is a bunch of idiots, to do it. Because that's not the case,” he said.
To support his statements, Maratea shared photographs of the construction, which, he said, was carried out with the money from the collection.
The influencer described a three-bedroom house, with a gallery, bathroom and kitchen, as well as gas, electricity, water tank, well and solar panels.
“This house with three rooms, with gallery, with bathroom, with kitchen. A house that in order to build it we had to call a tractor to remove all the floor, put all the cement in,” he explained.
The images released are part of their public response, although verifying expenses and compliance with obligations that may apply to them requires documentation and, in case of controversy, a judicial evaluation.
Before concluding, he referred back to the lawsuit and reiterated his intention to come forward voluntarily to respond to the complaint.
“I will spontaneously respond to the demand you made of me and I will demonstrate where your 50 pesos are,” he concluded.
The controversy surrounding Santiago Maratea added a new chapter after his tense confrontation with Josefina “China” Ansa in Podemos Hablar (Telefe). Amid the repercussions of the solidarity collections he led in recent years, the influencer decided to break the silence and published an extensive disclaimer on his Instagram account to clarify his judicial situation and respond to those who question the fate of
the donations.
The conflict is related to a fundraising campaign he promoted to build a shelter for animals. In recent days, versions have circulated about alleged lawsuits and mediations that Maratea would not have submitted to, in addition to a new court complaint to explain how it used
the funds.
Faced with these accusations, the content creator assured that the information released does not correspond to what happened and pointed directly at the journalist Fernanda Iglesias, whom he held responsible for disseminating part of those versions.
“It is being said that they made lawsuits and mediations and that I never came forward. That's a lie,” he began by saying in the video, which he recorded as he prepared to leave his house
.
As he explained, the two mediations for damages that were mentioned publicly did count on his participation. He even maintained that he himself had promoted one of them.
“That's what Fernanda Iglesias says and it's a lie because not only did I show up at the mediations, but I did them myself,” he remarked.
Santiago Maratea explained why he still did not respond to the demand for the collection
.
During his dismissal, Maratea distinguished the previous procedures from a new lawsuit related to the accountability of the money
collected.
According to his version, this last court filing was made recently, but he was not yet formally notified because the court would not have ordered his transfer.
“They're saying that they made a demand on me, now yes, for accountability. Let me be held to account for that collection from the dog shelter. What's going on? That demand was made recently and the judge has not yet transferred it,” he explained.
He then clarified that this circumstance does not mean that he is avoiding responding to justice.
“So, I've never been notified yet, but it's not that they haven't found me yet, that lawsuit hasn't even come out,” he added.
Santiago Maratea responded to criticism against him
The influencer said that he heard about the presentation through the media and that, based on that information, he decided to contact his lawyer to
evaluate a spontaneous presentation.
“I'm finding out that a lawsuit was made on me because they put it in the media today. Serious mistake, because now it gives me the opportunity to introduce myself spontaneously, which is what I'm going to do,”
he said.
That's when he uttered one of the strongest phrases in his statement: “I don't hide from anything, I show up wherever they want, I don't have any problem”.
However, he also questioned the legitimacy of the claim promoted by an influencer who has been questioning the fulfillment of the campaign's objectives.
The shelter if it had been built after its collapse
According to her story, the woman would have received a transfer of rights from a donor identified as Sara Rocío Frías, who
would have contributed 50 pesos to the collection.
Maratea explained that the money raised during that initiative reached 18,500,000 pesos and argued that the plaintiff could not demand a surrender on all the funds based on an individual donation of lower value.
