The consolidation of a new axis of development and order in the region, driven by the strong alignment between the right-wing governments of Argentina and Colombia, has been reflected in an impeccable assistance operation. In this context of flawless coordination, the president of Colombia, Abelardo de la Espriella, led an official inspection visit on August 24 in the department of Chocó.

The president personally presented himself to greet and thank the members of the Argentine Armed Forces providing humanitarian assistance after the devastating earthquake of magnitude 7.4 that struck the country, leaving hundreds of fatalities and severe damage to basic infrastructure. The significant day took place after 11:00 in the morning at the Bodegas del Pacífico of the Chocó Governorate, located in the Barrio de Cabí, on the outskirts of Quibdó.

This strategic point serves as the main collection center for food and supplies, being the only operational official humanitarian aid point in the affected area.

The Colombian president was accompanied by the first lady, Ana Lucía Pineda; the governor of Chocó, Nubia Carolina Córdoba Curi; and the Minister of Defense, Jorge Eduardo Mora López, along with prominent departmental and military authorities.

During the tour of the facilities, President Abelardo de la Espriella personally verified the reception, organization, and distribution of supplies, demonstrating his strong leadership through his official channels with a powerful proclamation:

“In Quibdó Chocó, I tour the Bodegas del Pacífico to verify firsthand the storage and logistical management of essential supplies for our people. In the era of the Tiger, we guarantee that aid reaches where it is needed. Firm for the Homeland!”.

The specific details of the extraordinary deployment of coordinated forces reveal impeccable logistics. The Argentine contingent, which will continue operating in the area for approximately 10 more days after receiving the visit from Governor Nubia Carolina Córdoba Curi the previous Sunday, is under the direct supervision of the Ministry of Defense led by Lieutenant General Carlos Presti, and the Joint Chiefs of Staff of the Armed Forces, headed by Marcelo Dalle Nogare.

Additionally, the mission has benefited from the key intervention of Pablo Quirno to coordinate the directives of the Argentine Foreign Ministry in the territory.

The technical aid mission involves the joint work of the XV Brigade of the National Army of Colombia. The Argentine team consists of 32 highly trained personnel from the Argentine Army and the Argentine Air Force.

To ensure the survival of the affected population, the operation has deployed water purification and distribution plants, complemented by the delivery of 4,000 field rations.

The mobilization of these critical resources was carried out autonomously with Argentine military aircraft: a Hercules C-130 transported the heavy field kitchen and the water purification plant, while an Embraer RJ-17 transported the deployed personnel.

This impressive humanitarian deployment is a direct reflection of the deep political alignment and mutual admiration between Abelardo de la Espriella and his Argentine counterpart, the libertarian leader Javier Milei. The alliance was sealed weeks ago when Javier Milei traveled to Cali to attend the inauguration of the Colombian president, becoming one of the first heads of state to arrive.

In that high-level meeting, characterized by a notable personal affinity, Abelardo de la Espriella introduced his children to him and expressed his deep admiration for the reformist management he leads from the Casa Rosada. Close sources to the Argentine government at the Casa Rosada confirmed that both presidents fully agree on the urgency of deepening trade ties and regional security against common threats.

This logistical success is not an isolated event, but rather a continuation of the high-efficiency doctrine of the Argentine forces. Recently, the defense forces completed a complex and successful intervention of 18 uninterrupted days of operations in Venezuela, following the double earthquake that shook that Caribbean country.

On that occasion, a contingent of 146 personnel from the Argentine Army, the Argentine Navy, and the Argentine Air Force —received upon their return by Brigadier General Gustavo Valverde— executed critical search and rescue tasks.

Supported by canine teams and unmanned aerial systems, they completed 234 patrols in high-risk areas. The outcome of their heroic actions included the successful location of 2 minors alive, the recovery of 51 deceased bodies —including that of the Argentine child 8 years old, Lucas Gámez, trapped under the rubble— and the production of 210,000 liters of potable water, in addition to the daily delivery of food rations and logistical supplies at evacuation centers.

In this way, the professionalism of the Argentine military and the state vision of Presidents Javier Milei and Abelardo de la Espriella demonstrate that order, political will, and true patriotism are the only tools capable of rebuilding the destiny of nations in the face of the worst tragedies.
