The cycle of Carlos Tévez at the helm of Talleres de Córdoba has come to an end. Although his contract was set to run until June 30, following the elimination in the round of 16 of the 2026 Apertura Tournament against Belgrano, the management decided to not renew it and the coach will leave his position early.
The outcome took shape after the Córdoba derby, which changed a scenario that until that moment seemed favorable for the coach's continuity. Even Tévez himself had expressed his intention to continue and consolidate a long-term project, but the defeat against the Pirata, both in terms of the result and the team's performance, changed the course of the discussions regarding a possible contract extension.
The club communicated the decision formally: "Following the expiration of the current contract, the Board of Directors of Club Atlético Talleres thanks Carlos Tévez and his entire coaching staff for their time in charge of the first team". Additionally, they highlighted that the coach "achieved the set objective" in a complex semester and in a "challenging sports context".
Furthermore, Talleres confirmed that the former forward will not be on the bench for the next match: the clash against Atlético Tucumán in the round of 32 of the Copa Argentina on May 20. The squad will be under the care of an interim coaching staff while the management, led by Andrés Fassi, begins the search for a new coach to tackle the second half of the year.

Since his arrival at the T in mid-2025, the Apache has managed 36 matches, with a record of 13 wins, 12 draws, and 11 losses, and a neutral balance of 28 goals for and 28 against.
