The Argentine women's national team crushed Benin 8-0 and is going all out against Mexico to advance in the U-20 World Cup

After a debut that raised alarms, the Argentina women's U-20 team responded with strength and fully re-entered the fight for qualification. The team led by Christian Meloni crushed Benin 8-0 in the second match of Group A of the World Cup in Poland and achieved a result that, in addition to boosting morale, was recorded as the largest victory for the Albiceleste in the history of the category's World Cups.

Argentina took control from the start and quickly translated their dominance into the scoreboard. At 15 minutes, Julia Vinhas appeared after a corner kick and won with a header to establish the 1-0. The second came at 32, when Mercedes Diz took advantage of a mistake in the African team's defense and unleashed a powerful left-footed shot from outside the box.

Before the break, there was time for another blow. Camila Ochoa sent a cross from the right and Annika Paz appeared with a header that bounced off the ground to extend the lead to three goals and set the stage for a second half that would turn into a true offensive showcase.

Far from lowering the intensity, Meloni's team maintained the pressure after halftime and quickly increased the advantage. Diz appeared again at 47 minutes and, after taking advantage of a hasty exit from goalkeeper Larissa Saizonou, finished with an open goal to complete her brace.

A few minutes later, the Albiceleste reached 5-0. At 60 minutes, Paz had the chance to score from the penalty spot, but Saizonou saved the shot. However, the forward reacted quickly and scored on the rebound.

From there, the rout was in the hands of the Inter Milan player. Paz scored again after a shot from Dolo Delgado deflected off her and later capitalized on another rebound to achieve her fourth goal of the day. The final blow came from Julieta Aguilar, with a cross shot that sealed the definitive 8-0.

The victory allowed Argentina to reach three points and place second in their group with a goal difference of +5, a detail that could be decisive when determining the tickets for the next stage. Now, the national team's qualification will be decided in the last match, when they face Mexico, which currently has only one point. The match is scheduled for Friday, September 11 at 1 PM and a victory will guarantee advancement to the round of 16.

The tournament features 24 teams divided into six groups of four. The top two from each group will advance directly to the round of 16, while the four best third-placed teams will also secure a spot. From then on, the tournament will continue in a knockout format until a champion is determined.
