Alpine will try to quickly move past the bitter taste left by the Monaco Grand Prix. After a weekend in which Franco Colapinto finished outside the points and Pierre Gasly lost a podium due to penalties, the French team will arrive in Barcelona with a significant update package for their cars.
The Formula 1 will land this weekend at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya to compete in the seventh round of the season, and the Enstone team will take the opportunity to introduce modifications aimed at improving the performance of the A526. The changes will be primarily focused on the front of the car, one of the areas that has caused the French team the most difficulties since the start of the championship.

According to reports, the car will feature a new front wing configuration and modifications to the front suspension, with the aim of optimizing the vehicle's behavior in medium and high-speed corners and reducing understeer issues.
Additionally, the team will make adjustments to the cooling system. The intention is to improve the thermal management of the Mercedes power unit, which has faced issues not only in Alpine but also in other teams using the German engine throughout the season.
The team's goal is to regain competitiveness during a key stage of the European calendar. Barcelona is considered one of the most complete tracks in the championship due to the variety of corners it presents, making it a benchmark for measuring the true potential of each car.
After the good performances shown weeks ago in Miami and Montreal, the result in the Principality represented a setback for Alpine. Gasly had crossed the finish line in third place, but two penalties for exceeding the pit lane speed limit relegated him to seventh place. Meanwhile, Colapinto finished the race in 15th position, but a post-race penalty confirmed for Checo Pérez moved him up to 14th.

With this scenario, the French team will seek to score points with both of its drivers and consolidate itself in the midfield of the constructors' standings. Currently, Alpine occupies fifth place with 41 points and maintains an increasingly tight lead over its pursuers, especially Racing Bulls (39 points), which has managed to close the gap thanks to the results obtained in Monaco.
The upgrades debuting in Spain are part of a broader development plan that, according to various reports, could have a second phase at the Austrian Grand Prix. Meanwhile, in Barcelona, an important test will begin to assess whether the updates allow for the performance leap the team needs to stay competitive for the rest of the season.
When does Colapinto race again
After a challenging weekend in Monaco, the Argentine driver is already focusing on his next challenge: the Barcelona Grand Prix. Activities at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya will kick off on Friday the 12th with the first free practices and will conclude on Sunday the 14th with the main race. Last season, the native of Pilar finished 15th at this track.
