In the final stretch of the semester, River has added a new problem in defense. Tobías Ramírez will need surgery and will be out of competition for several weeks.
The recently signed youth player, who arrived from Argentinos Juniors due to the injury of Juan Carlos Portillo and as a projection bet, had been suffering from synovitis in his right knee which had sidelined him from recent training sessions and from the call-up to travel to Venezuela for the match against Carabobo. However, subsequent tests confirmed a more complex condition: an external meniscal syndrome that will require surgical intervention.
The operation is scheduled for the coming days and, according to the timeline managed by the club, the defender may not return until the preseason that River will hold in Spain starting June 21. The idea is for him to complete the final stage of his recovery there and be available to the coaching staff again.
