While "Xeneize" is conducting preseason training at the Ezeiza facility, Exequiel "el Changuito" Zeballos has been sidelined from the main football drills, a sign that he is not currently among the priorities of the coaching staff due to uncertainty about his future.
Zeballos' desire is to continue his career in European football. However, the proposal he was expecting has not yet arrived formally.
From the forward's camp, it was anticipated months ago that there was interest from clubs abroad, with Napoli being the main candidate to sign him. As the weeks went by, the name of Fiorentina also emerged, although neither institution has made a concrete offer to Boca.
Although the transfer market in Europe will remain open until August 31, the club is still waiting for a decision that, for now, has not occurred.
In parallel to the expectation of a possible transfer, the management led by Juan Román Riquelme presented the player with a proposal to extend his contract, which is set to expire at the end of 2026.
The offer was made approximately three months ago and remains valid, although so far Zeballos has not responded whether he will accept to renew his contract with the institution. The combination of the forward's desire to leave, the absence of concrete offers, and the lack of a response regarding the renewal creates a complex scenario for all parties.
If a proposal from abroad does not materialize and Zeballos also does not agree to extend his contract, Boca could face an uncomfortable situation both on the sporting and financial fronts.
