In an unprecedented effort to safeguard the future of American youth against progressive indoctrination, the state of Florida has consolidated one of the brightest educational measures of the modern era. Republican Governor Ron DeSantis signed law SB 1264 on April 17, 2024, mandating the compulsory teaching of the subject "History of Communism" in public schools.
This excellent curricular measure will formally begin implementation starting with the 2026-2027 school year, a milestone that marks a turning point in the cultural battle of the United States.

The initiative arises as a decisive response to the danger of leftist currents seeking to whitewash the historical tragedies of this system. Ron DeSantis himself was emphatic in stating: "The truth will set us free". The Republican leader added with patriotic firmness:
"We will not allow our students to live in ignorance or be indoctrinated by apologists for communism in schools. On the contrary, we will ensure that Florida students learn the truth about the evils and dangers".
From the general to the specific, the new curricular requirement has the central purpose of having students analyze in detail the rise and nefarious consequences of communism, contrasting its tragic results with the fundamental pillars of the American model: freedom, democracy, and individual rights.
To this end, the program will not shy away from the harshness of historical truth. Students will learn firsthand about the atrocities, famines, persecutions, and resounding failures caused by communist regimes around the world, detailing the devastation in nations such as the USSR, China, Cuba, Cambodia, and Venezuela.

The academic content, designed rigorously and adapted to the age and level of the students, will delve into the following specific points:
Origins and international and internal development: Both the economic, political, and industrial backgrounds of Marxist revolutions and the presence and tactics of domestic communist movements within the U.S. will be examined.
Episodes of extreme violence and tyranny: The plan will address the repression, violence, and blatant human rights violations that characterize these systems, closely analyzing key events of the 20th century such as the Cultural Revolution in China.
