Franco Colapinto took another step forward in Formula 1 and wrapped up his best weekend since joining Alpine with a solid sixth place in the Canadian Grand Prix. After a challenging start, marked by mechanical issues that prevented him from participating in the first free practice, the Argentine managed to recover and delivered a performance in the main race that left him very satisfied.
Beyond the joy of his result, Colapinto analyzed how the competition unfolded at the Gilles Villeneuve circuit and acknowledged that, despite the good result, he did not have much action on track. "An boring race, at the beginning I pushed a lot, I was going flat out, very strong", he explained.
However, the most delicate moment came after his pit stop on lap 32, when he lost control of the car for a few moments and hit the wall. "I stepped on a bit of water and went off, I hit hard with the left side. The rear suspension got a bit messed up and I was more cautious", he recounted.

In addition to the race development, Colapinto particularly valued the growth that Alpine has been showing in recent races and highlighted the collective work of the French team. "I take the points, double points for the team again. It's very good. I'm very happy. We didn't stop, I have confidence", he stated.
Moreover, he emphasized that the improvements implemented since the Miami Grand Prix marked an important change in his performance. "In Miami, it was noticeable that the changes, that difference in the car helped me a lot, since then I've been more competitive. I think that's the way it is, what happened in Miami made us take a big step forward", he expressed.
Finally, he acknowledged that there are still aspects to correct in the car, although he appeared optimistic about Alpine's current situation and grateful for the support received. "Obviously, there are improvements needed in other areas, we need to work a bit on the car, but everything is being very positive and I'm very happy. It was a great day for the whole team, I'm happy to deliver this result, after receiving so much support. We need to keep it up", he concluded.
When Colapinto will race again
After his historic sixth place in Canada, Formula 1 will cross the pond and land at the urban circuit of Monaco. The race in the principality will take place in two weeks, between Friday, June 5, and Sunday, June 7.
