A strong conflict erupted in the Bonaerense health system after the Government of Axel Kicillof labeled the Medical Association of La Plata (AMP) as a “parasitic institution,” in statements that generated widespread rejection due to the disdain for health professionals.
The statements were made by the president of IOMA, Homero Giles, a member of La Cámpora, who strongly attacked the medical association after they demanded the payment of debts from the Kirchnerist administration.
The clash occurred amid questioning about the disastrous state of the healthcare system and led to an institutional response from the College of Physicians of the Province of Buenos Aires, which expressed its support for the AMP and firmly condemned Kicillof's attacks.

From District I of the College, they considered Giles' statements to be unjustified and framed them as aggressions towards an entity with a long-standing history in the health field.
In this regard, they emphasized that the Medical Association of La Plata has played a central role for 85 years in the care of affiliates and patients, establishing itself as a key player in healthcare access in the region and throughout the province.
Giles' statements were made during an interview on Radio Provincia, where he also claimed that the AMP raises “a debt when there is none.” In that same context, he deepened his criticisms of the entity's role, insisting on his characterization of it as a “parasitic institution of IOMA.”

The rejection did not take long to arrive. The College of Physicians warned that this type of expression does not contribute to solving the structural problems facing the Bonaerense health system.
Furthermore, the professional entity emphasized that the AMP has historically been a fundamental actor in the health coverage of a significant part of the population, a role that, they indicated, will continue to be developed despite the conflict and the underfunding from Kicillof's Government.
The episode exposes a new tension within the Bonaerense healthcare system, at a time when various sectors are demanding solutions in the face of the lack of funds affecting both professionals and patients.
