While River continues to resolve the situation of the players who were left out of the professional squad, Matías Viña is getting closer to continuing his career in Europe. The Uruguayan full-back has attracted interest from Getafe and Olympiakos, who are considering bringing him in on loan during this transfer window.

The defender, who arrived at Núñez at the beginning of the year on loan from Flamengo, is part of the group of players training separately at the Cantilo facility while they seek a new destination. Following the departures of Maximiliano Salas (loan to Independiente Rivadavia), Paulo Díaz (contract termination / Atlanta United), Santiago Lencina (loan to Burgos), Maximiliano Meza (contract termination / Independiente), Alex Woiski (contract termination) and Ian Subiabre (loan to Tigre), his situation is one that still needs to be resolved.

In this context, it has been reported that Getafe has already contacted Flamengo to inquire about the conditions for a possible signing, while Olympiakos is also closely following the player. The intention of both clubs would be to add him through a loan, an option that the Brazilian club would view favorably as long as it includes a purchase option.

River had already attempted to terminate the full-back's loan early during this transfer window, although the carioca club made it clear that the existing agreement required the Argentine club to cover the player's contract until December. In that scenario, Viña remained with the Millonario, although he was not considered by the coaching staff.

Now, the possibility of a new loan could unlock the situation. Since the transfer belongs to Flamengo, the negotiation will mainly depend on them and the team that decides to pursue the Uruguayan, while those from Núñez would not object to facilitating his departure.

With experience in European football after his stints at Roma, Sassuolo, and Bournemouth, Viña is looking to relaunch his career after a cycle without continuity at the Millonario. In the coming weeks, Getafe and Olympiakos could expedite efforts to offer him a new opportunity in the Old Continent.

Viña's numbers at River

Since his arrival at the beginning of the year, the native of Empalme Olmos has played 887 minutes wearing the Núñez club's jersey, spread over 14 matches, in which he did not score goals or provide assists and received 6 yellow cards and 1 direct red card. It is worth noting that he played as a goalkeeper for about 10 minutes. This occurred in the match of the fourth round of the group stage of the Copa Sudamericana against Carabobo due to the expulsion of Santiago Beltrán and the lack of available substitutions.
