The National Government deployed a new immigration control operation in the Chinatown, located in the Belgrano neighborhood of Buenos Aires, as part of the policy aimed at detecting and expelling foreigners who remain illegally in Argentina or have committed crimes.
The procedure was carried out jointly by the National Directorate of Migrations and the Argentine Federal Police (PFA), who deployed agents in galleries and businesses in one of the busiest commercial areas of the City of Buenos Aires.
The Ministry of National Security released images of the operation and reaffirmed the stance taken by the Government of Javier Milei against those who violate immigration regulations or commit crimes while in Argentine territory.
“The rules are clear: any foreigner who commits a crime or remains in the country illegally is expelled and cannot re-enter Argentina”, the Security portfolio officially stated.
Additionally, the Ministry reminded citizens that they can anonymously and safely report to line 134 any cases they are aware of involving a foreigner in an irregular immigration situation or who has committed a crime.
The procedure carried out in Belgrano adds to a series of controls deployed in recent months at various points in the Metropolitan Area of Buenos Aires. In June, Migrations and the Federal Police conducted another operation in Retiro, also aimed at verifying the situation of foreigners and detecting possible criminal records.
Previously, the Government had made a significant deployment in Liniers, where more than 150 Federal Police officers participated alongside immigration personnel. There, documentation checks and biometric verifications were carried out in businesses, fairs, and places with high foot traffic.
Another operation took place in Villa Celina, in the La Matanza district, where authorities identified hundreds of people within a fair and detected foreign citizens presenting irregular immigration statuses. In those inspections, portable biometric technology was also used to consult official databases in real time.
The National Government is implementing an active immigration control policy
The National Government emphasizes that the policy does not target those who entered the country legally, have residency, or carry out their procedures in accordance with regulations, but rather those foreigners who remain illegally in national territory or are involved in criminal activities.
With the operation carried out in Chinatown, the Milei administration continues to deepen immigration controls in strategic points of high circulation, under the premise of ensuring respect for and compliance with Argentine laws.
