The Kirchnerist deputy Juan Grabois has once again found himself at the center of controversy after stating that Peronism “is not nationalist” and proposing the replacement of the Argentine National Anthem with what he called a “Latin American homeland anthem”.

The statements were made during an interview in the Kirchnerist activism medium Gelatina, where the leader maintained that there is a striking interpretation regarding the ideological tradition of the movement founded by Juan Domingo Perón.

Grabois confessed that Peronism "is not nationalist, it is continentalist" and proposed replacing the National Anthem

“There is a false idea that Peronism is nationalism, and that is a lie. Peronism is continentalist and universalist, in accordance with the sound doctrine and jurisprudence of General Perón,” Grabois stated during the conversation.

The leader then elaborated on this position and asserted: “Peronism is not nationalist, it is continentalist”. He then advanced the idea of a regional identity above the strictly national one and claimed: “We are going to have a Latin American anthem”.

His words generated strong reactions on social media due to the contrast between the historical association of Peronism with concepts such as national sovereignty and the position now expressed by one of the main representatives of Kirchnerism.

Grabois thus advocated for a political conception of Kirchnerism that places a continental and Latin American perspective above the strictly Argentine identity, even extending that vision to the National Anthem, one of the established symbols representing the Argentine Nation.

The statement comes at a time when the debate over national sovereignty has once again taken a central place in the public agenda due to measures promoted by the government of Javier Milei in defense of Argentina's claim over the Malvinas Islands.

This episode adds to other controversies recently involving Grabois. In June, the federal justice system processed him and seized $5 million in the case investigating the takeover of the Juan Domingo Perón Institute, which occurred in 2025.

The federal judge Sebastián Ramos found it credible that Grabois entered the building without authorization and remained there during the occupation. The case also involved activist Valentín Peralta and developed after clashes between protesters and police officers.
