The defeat of the Uruguayan national team against the Spanish National Team and the elimination in the group stage of the World Cup accelerated movements within the Uruguayan leadership. In this context, it was revealed that the main candidate to succeed Marcelo Bielsa is Marcelo Gallardo.

The leadership has already begun to project the next cycle of the Uruguayan national team. "Uruguay, at this moment I am confirmed, with the hot corpse, is going to seek Marcelo Gallardo. Uruguay at this hour is already thinking of Marcelo Gallardo as the future coach for the next World Cup or for the next World Cup stage," journalist Gabriel Anello assured.

Later, he reiterated the information with precise timing: "23:09 in Argentina, 20:09 here. Uruguay is going for Marcelo Gallardo to be the coach of the Uruguayan national team when Bielsa's departure is confirmed."

Anello clarified that it is still necessary to know the decision of the former River Plate coach, although he recalled that it would not be the first time the Uruguayan federation has tried to hire him.

"Then we have to see whether Gallardo accepts or not. Let's remember that on two or three occasions Gallardo has been approached by the Uruguayan national football team, but note Gallardo as a possible replacement for Bielsa when listing potential candidates," he emphasized.

He then stated that the information comes from sources close to the management of Uruguayan football: "I am confirmed very close to the leadership of Uruguay that they are going to go for Marcelo Gallardo."
