The Spanish sovereignty in the north of Africa is under systematic siege, aggravated by the passive complicity of the socialist government of Pedro Sánchez. In a critical geopolitical context, where the Moroccan Minister of Justice, Abdellatif Ouahbi, has once again claimed the alleged historical and geographical rights of his country over the autonomous cities of Ceuta and Melilla, Spain suffers the consequences of an alarming border inaction.

This passivity of the Executive erupted just three weeks ago with an unprecedented migration crisis, caused by the massive and irregular entry of 72,000 Maghreb immigrants into Ceuta. The collapse caused by this silent invasion has immediately transferred to the local healthcare system.

Since July 30, the University Hospital of Ceuta has been in a state of extreme tension, with healthcare occupancy at historic highs due to the avalanche of patients. However, far from supporting the professionals who sustain the front line of healthcare defense, the Ministry of Health, led by Mónica García, has opted for censorship and coercion.

The public body Ingesa (National Institute of Health Management), responsible for the direct management of the center, is using purely dictatorial methods to silence criticism and hide the healthcare chaos from public opinion. The outrage of health professionals erupted after the direct threats made by the hospital's management became known.

During one of the ordinary morning work meetings, the center's manager bluntly warned frontline doctors: When this is over, we will take disciplinary measures against those who have been giving information to the media.

This dictatorial coercion has been labeled as absolutely unacceptable by the Spanish Confederation of Medical Unions (CESM), an organization that strongly denounced the attempt to use hierarchical position to intimidate professionals and limit their freedom of expression, which is a clear violation of their fundamental rights.

The origin of this totalitarian-style authoritarianism points directly to positions filled by the socialist apparatus. Among those highlighted is the controversial Jesús Lopera, territorial director of Ingesa in Ceuta, whose history of appointments dates back to the time of José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero (from 2004 to 2011) and was reinstated in 2018 under the mandate of Pedro Sánchez.

The doctors themselves openly denounce that the management acts under the premise that the hospital is their private estate and they can do whatever they want with the workers.

Health sources reveal the despotic nature of Jesús Lopera, who even demanded that a doctor transferred from Madrid rent his own personal apartment under the veiled warning that he decides who works and who does not in Ceuta.

This policy of labor terror and governmental gag translates into the well-founded fear of many professionals of losing their jobs immediately. Some doctors have also expressed their fear of suffering workplace reprisals or not having their contracts renewed, which depend on annual signatures.

One of the affected doctors confessed with deep bitterness to the media: I am sure that next year, when they have to renew me, they will say that they are not renewing me. As I am speaking, I think that is going to happen to me because they have told another colleague that when this crisis is over, we will find out who has spoken.

The whistleblowers define the directors of Ingesa as despots, asserting that if there is a dissenting doctor, even if he is the only one in that specialty, they prefer to fire him and be left with no one.

Although the Secretary of State for Health, Javier Padilla, has tried to contain the damage by denying the coercions and publicly guaranteeing that there will be no reprisals for speaking with anyone, the distrust of professionals towards the apparatus of Mónica García is total.

In the face of this flagrant violation of freedom of expression, the doctors have announced that they will not be intimidated and plan to report all coercions through the website of the Independent Authority of the Anonymous Informant, while the CESM is considering taking firm legal action to curb the authoritarianism of the socialist government
