The government of José Antonio Kast took a concrete step in its domestic policy by implementing a system of air deportation of illegal immigrants, in line with one of its main campaign promises: regaining control of borders and strengthening national security.
The operation began with a first flight that transported nearly 40 people to countries such as Colombia, Ecuador and Bolivia, in a coordinated procedure between different State agencies. The majority of those expelled had a history linked to crimes such as robbery, drug trafficking or illegal carrying of weapons, reinforcing the Executive's focus on prioritizing the safety of citizens over

This measure is part of a broader strategy promoted by the current administration, which includes the so-called “Border Shield Plan”, aimed at curbing illegal entry through increased military presence, surveillance technology and infrastructure works on the northern border. In this sense, the start of expulsion flights represents a turning point, moving from announcements to concrete action
.
From the ruling party, they highlight that, for years, the lack of political decision allowed illegal immigration to advance uncontrolled, generating tensions in terms of security, employment and public services. Faced with this scenario, the current administration seeks to install a clear criterion: respect for the law as a basic condition for coexistence
.
Although sectors of the opposition have questioned these policies, the fact is that the government is facing a growing demand from citizens for greater order and control. In this context, aerial expulsions have not only a practical effect, but also a symbolic one, sending a clear signal regarding the direction taken by

Even so, the challenge is no less. The magnitude of the migratory phenomenon and the operational limitations mean that these types of measures must be sustained over time to achieve significant results. However, the beginning of this plan marks a change in approach: from passivity to an active policy of control
.
With these actions, the Kast government seeks to consolidate an agenda focused on security, sovereignty and law enforcement, in a regional context where the migration crisis continues to be one of the main challenges.
