In the face of the attempts by the nefarious government of Axel Kicillof and Mayor Fernando Espinoza to downplay the severe security crisis, the territorial reality in the Province of Buenos Aires reveals an absolute collapse of state management. Criminal statistics reflect the extent of the disaster: in just seven days, La Matanza recorded the worst week in terms of homicides in its recent history, tallying a bloody total of eight violent deaths, which amounts to more than one murder per day.
This weekly figure represents almost 50% of the 17 murders recorded throughout the municipality in an entire month. To illustrate the level of institutional abandonment under the Kirchnerist administration, the city of Rosario recorded nine violent deaths over the course of two months (between July and August). In light of such an escalation, a high-ranking official admitted overwhelmed: “We have never seen anything like this”.
The judicial paralysis is total: the Homicide Prosecutor's Offices operate at the limit with only three prosecutors, while localities like Virrey del Pino position themselves as the main hot zone dominated by home invasions, motorcycle robberies, armed confrontations, and drug disputes.
Moreover, the list of fatal victims could rise to nine, as a suspicious individual remains hospitalized in critical condition with a gunshot wound to the head following a violent confrontation between gangs in González Catán, a case overseen by Prosecutor Adrián Arribas of the Decentralized UFI No. 2.
The specific breakdown of the bloody episodes that occurred throughout the week confirms the total absence of the State on the streets. On the morning of Sunday, September 13, the eighth violent death occurred in Ciudad Evita. On Camino de Cintura, near the Mendeville bridge, a 33-year-old City Police officer riding her Yamaha motorcycle was approached by two suspects who took her ignition keys to steal the vehicle.
The officer exercised her right to legitimate defense and used her service weapon Beretta, shooting the criminal Franco Alegre, aged 23, who fell dead holding the keys in his hand and carrying a .22 long revolver. The case is under the jurisdiction of Prosecutor Diego Rulli of the local Homicides UFI, which already has the phone contact of the mother of the deceased.
On Saturday, there were two additional violent deaths that required the intervention of the overwhelmed Homicides UFI in La Matanza. In a direct affront against security institutions, two suspects opened fire on the personnel of the Ciudad Evita Police Station; one of the assailants survived while the other died after being admitted to Hospital Ballestrini.
