The Minister of Health of the Nation participated in the Annual Health Consensus Dinner, where he reviewed the management of the Ministry in front of more than 1,000 guests from the health sector
The Minister of Health of the Nation, Mario Lugones, participated this Monday in the Annual Consensus Health 2026 Dinner, held at the Palais Rouge. The event brought together more than 1,000 personalities from the Argentine health sector.
During his speech, Lugones reviewed the direction of his management at the Ministry: to comply with the competencies set by the National Constitution and to optimize resource management. He emphasized that the goal is for every peso managed to translate into concrete services for citizens.
The minister also defined the role that the State should have in relation to the private sector: "The State should not do what the private sector can do," he stated. He added that the Government's function is to create the conditions for private investment to develop, not to compete with it.

Garrahan, digitization, and investments under Mario Lugones' management
Lugones highlighted the Garrahan Hospital as an example of efficiency and management. He detailed that, after an administrative reorganization, the Ministry is carrying out the most important investment plan since the hospital's creation, with more than 30 billion pesos in infrastructure and equipment, which included a linear accelerator and a state-of-the-art tomosimulator.
The minister also reviewed the advances in the modernization of processes that previously operated on paper. He mentioned the national and free unique digital registration, and the electronic prescription, which already totals more than 20 million prescriptions monthly.
Lugones also listed a series of investments promoted in recent months: US$8 billion in clinical research alongside the Argentine Chamber of Medicinal Specialties (CAEME), the expansion of the SC Johnson plant in Pilar, a US$20 million investment by Sinergium for a new mRNA vaccine plant, and the agreement between Biosidus and Mubadala Bio.

Hours after the event, Lugones shared a summary of his presentation on his X account. There he emphasized that, under the leadership of President Javier Milei, the Ministry is working to "manage efficiently, organize the system, and ensure that every resource translates into better services."
The minister stressed that this order also allows the private sector to have clear rules for investing and innovating. For Lugones, health has ceased to be thought of solely as an expense and is now consolidating as an investment, innovation, and engine of Argentine development.
