Does Mauro Icardi return to Serie A?: a renowned team from Italy has started talks with the forward's camp

Mauro Icardi could return to Italian football after six years. The Argentine forward, currently without a club after finishing his time at Galatasaray, is seen as the main target for Lazio to strengthen their offense during this transfer window.

The possibility began to gain traction in recent hours based on information coming from Italy. According to reports, the management of the Roman club has already established contact with the striker's camp to move forward with a potential signing.

Lazio seeks a forward and targets Icardi

The need to add an offensive reference intensified after Lazio's elimination from the Coppa Italia. The team lost 2-0 to Mantova, a club currently in Serie B, a result that raised concerns and led the management to accelerate the search for alternatives for the attack.

In this scenario, Icardi appears as the top option to strengthen the squad. His status as a free agent could facilitate negotiations, although it remains to be seen if both parties can reach an agreement on the terms of his potential return to Serie A.

During his time with the Milan club, the Argentine forward built much of his international reputation and even wore the captain's armband. Now, with a new opportunity to return to Italian football, he could wear a different jersey at one of the most important institutions in Rome.

Pinamonti, Lazio's alternative

Although Icardi is Lazio's priority, the management also has a second name in mind in case talks with the Argentine do not progress.

The chosen one would be Andrea Pinamonti, a forward currently belonging to Sassuolo. Thus, the Roman club would already have an alternative plan defined while trying to advance for the Argentine striker.
