The dispute between Mayra Mendoza and Axel Kicillof is part of a much broader internal conflict within Buenos Aires Peronism

The internal conflict of Buenos Aires Peronism has once again been exposed, this time with Mayra Mendoza and Axel Kicillof as the protagonists of a dispute that combines jabs, accusations, and a fierce struggle for power within Fuerza Patria.

The episode was commented on by journalist Jonatan Viale, who shared a snippet of a broadcast on his social media where the tension between the mayor of Quilmes and the Buenos Aires governor was referenced.

Viale mocked the conflict and pointed directly at the supposed intensity of the internal fight. “Fuerza Patria has become Fuerza Pauta”, he noted while reproducing the content, then emphasized: “All very entertaining, but then they end up together”.

The journalist added another critique of the functioning of Kirchnerist leadership: “They hate each other, but when it comes to the resources, they pretend to be forgetful”.

Mayra Mendoza and Kicillof, at odds over control of Peronism

The dispute between Mayra Mendoza and Axel Kicillof is part of a much broader internal conflict within Buenos Aires Peronism. The confrontation revolves around political leadership, territorial organization, and control of power spaces for the future.

Mendoza is one of the leaders most identified with hardline Kirchnerism and maintains a close political relationship with Cristina Kirchner. Kicillof, on the other hand, has built his own space within Buenos Aires Peronism over the past few years and seeks to establish himself as a figure with autonomy from the hard core of Kirchnerism.

The tension between both sectors has become increasingly evident as electoral and political definitions in the province of Buenos Aires approached.

In this scenario, Fuerza Patria tries to present itself as a united front outwardly, while its main leaders maintain an internal dispute for leadership.

The unity that appears when resources are at stake

Viale's critique precisely targets one of the historical characteristics of the political structures of Peronism: the ability to close ranks when there is a common goal, even after engaging in strong internal confrontations.

The phrase about the “resources” aims to focus on the resources and power spaces managed by the different sectors of the Buenos Aires state and municipalities.

Thus, while public accusations and political differences emerge, the need to maintain positions of power can end up functioning as a cohesive element.

The scene exposes a contradiction that runs through Fuerza Patria: its leaders need to appear united to face their political adversaries, but at the same time, they compete among themselves for leadership of the space.

An internal conflict that increasingly exposes the differences

The confrontation between Kicillof's sector and the Kirchnerism represented by leaders like Mendoza reflects the deep dispute over the future of Buenos Aires Peronism.

While Kicillof tries to strengthen his own organization, Kirchnerism seeks to maintain influence over the political and territorial structure of the province.

In this context, public jabs, crossed questioning, and differences among leaders end up showing that the unity of Fuerza Patria is far from being a consolidated political reality.

And Viale's irony summarizes the scenario: they can confront each other publicly, but when it comes time to distribute power, resources, and candidacies, the possibility of sitting down together again remains on the table.
