The decision not to continue his career at Boca Juniors became known just as Paulo Dybala was officially free to act after finishing his contract with Roma. This situation had fueled the expectations of the management led by Juan Román Riquelme, who saw in the world champion a unique opportunity to strengthen Rodolfo Arruabarrena's squad.
In recent weeks, hope grew in the "Xeneize" world. Riquelme had conversations with the player some time ago and had expressed the club's interest in adding him once his contract in Italy concluded.
In fact, Boca had prepared a contractual proposal to try to convince the Córdoba native to return to the country. However, the response was negative.
According to reports, Dybala informed the management that his priority remains European football and that he is already negotiating the signing of a new contract with Roma, an institution with which he intends to extend his career despite the new agreement involving a significant salary reduction.
Dybala's arrival would have meant one of the most important signings in recent years for Argentine football. The forward, world champion with the Argentine National Team in Qatar 2022 and with a distinguished career at Instituto, Palermo, Juventus, and Roma, appeared as an international caliber addition capable of enhancing the team in all competitions.
However, the player's desire to remain in Serie A ultimately proved decisive in closing any possibility of returning to the country in this transfer market.
