San Lorenzo faces a huge debt with Ignacio Piatti and its headquarters in Boedo is at risk

San Lorenzo is going through a delicate legal conflict with Ignacio Piatti over a debt that, with interest, fees, and other expenses, exceeds 4.3 million dollars and could put the social headquarters on Avenida La Plata at risk.

The claim originated after Piatti's departure from San Lorenzo. The midfielder had returned to the club in February 2020, after his time with Montreal Impact in MLS. In that operation, the blue-and-red institution ceded 80% of Emanuel Maciel's rights to the Canadian team.

However, Piatti's second stint in Boedo was far from what was expected. During the nine months he stayed at the club, he played only 10 matches and scored one goal. Later, he initiated a legal claim against the institution for breaches related to his contractual relationship.

How much is Ignacio Piatti claiming from San Lorenzo?

According to official information from San Lorenzo, the total amount of the debt amounts to approximately 4.37 million dollars. Within that amount is a compensation of USD 2,292,716.47 in favor of the former player, in addition to USD 458,543.29 in interest.

The magnitude of the claim has created a particularly delicate situation for the club, as San Lorenzo's social headquarters, located at Avenida La Plata 1700, was seized in March 2025 and could be exposed to a potential auction if the debt is not resolved.

San Lorenzo made a proposal, but there was no agreement

In the hearing held this Thursday, José Confalonieri, legal representative of Ignacio Piatti, participated with the aim of finding a solution following the ruling of the Appeals Court.

The Boedo institution presented an alternative that included a cash payment to the firm and the cession of a portion of the club's future television rights. However, the proposal was rejected by the legal representation of the former footballer.
