Estudiantes de La Plata is about to finalize one of the most important sales in its history. Mikel Amondarain will continue his career at Bologna in Italy, after the Serie A club improved its offer and reached an agreement with the Platense management for the transfer of the 21-year-old midfielder.
According to specialized journalist Fabrizio Romano, the deal was closed for 10 million euros fixed, with an additional 2 million subject to the fulfillment of various sporting objectives. If these amounts are confirmed, the transfer will reach 12 million euros and surpass the 10.5 million that Tottenham paid for Juan Foyth, becoming the highest sale in the history of El Pincha.
The agreement also includes a long-term contract for the player, which will extend until December 2031. If no setbacks arise, Amondarain will travel to Italy in the coming days for a medical examination and then sign his contract with the Italian team.
While the details are being finalized, one point of the negotiation remains to be defined: Estudiantes seeks to retain 15% of a future sale of the player, a condition that would not pose an obstacle to definitively closing the deal.
The midfielder who emerged from the youth divisions of the Platense club managed to establish himself in the first team during the last semester, especially after the departure of Santiago Ascacíbar.
