In the matches of the first round of the 2026 World Cup, the Brazil-Morocco match was undoubtedly one of the most notable. In a duel that started with suffering and then ended in recovery, the Scrath drew 1-1 with the Atlas Lions in their debut in Group C.

In the first minutes, the Moroccan team would be the main protagonist of the match, pressuring their opponent with quick attacks and prolonged possession. Despite this scenario, they would not manage to create clear goal opportunities until the 20th minute, when it seemed that the Brazilian team was reacting, and would be lethal. From the center circle, Brahim Díaz made a great through ball for Ismael Saibari, who, faced with Allsson Becker closing in from outside the area, would lob it first time for a 1-0 lead for the Africans.

After the initial blow, and a stretch where it seemed they would suffer another goal, Brazil would find the equalizer. In the 32nd minute, after a good combination with Bruno Guimarães, Vinícius Júnior entered the area, dribbled past his marker in the box, and unleashed a powerful right shot to the right post of Yassine Bounou to make it 1-1.

With the field a bit more balanced after the goal from the Real Madrid forward, the first half would end with two incidents to highlight: a scissors kick from Lucas Paquetá that Bonou would deflect to a corner and a controversy over Achraf Hakimi's tackle on Vinícius that was not penalized even with a yellow card.

In the second half, just like at the end of the first half, there would be a new questionable play involving Hakimi, although this time as a victim. In the 48th minute, the Paris Saint-Germain defender would receive a stomp from Guimarães that would not be penalized with any card, marking a rather friction-filled passage of the match for both teams.

Despite making substitutions on both sides that would add a bit more dynamism to the match, it would not be until the 77th minute that there would be a new clear chance for a goal: Vinícius would break down the left flank and would send a back pass to Raphinha, who would shoot very centrally into Bonou's hands.

Although there would be an added 10 minutes, neither the Verdeamarela, who would press to get the second with several corner kicks, nor the Atlas Lions, who would have a double opportunity with El Ayabaoui and Ayoube Amaimouni-Echghouyab that Alisson would save with an impressive double save, would manage to change the score.

After this draw in their World Cup debut, Brazil will try to earn three points against Haiti next Friday June 19 at the Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia, while Morocco will do the same against Scotland on the same day at the Gillette Stadium in Boston.
