While trying to move on after the painful elimination from the Argentine Cup against Aldosivi, River continues to be active in the transfer market. In this context, one of the main protagonists is Matías Galarza Fonda, who returned after his loan at Atlanta United and is very close to becoming a reinforcement for Bologna.

Recently, the Paraguayan midfielder returned to Núñez after the American team did not execute the purchase obligation stipulated in his loan. However, the situation changed completely after his outstanding performance in the 2026 World Cup, where he was one of the stars of the team coached by Gustavo Alfaro, which surprised everyone by eliminating Germany and reaching the round of 16, where they fell to France.

Despite that performance, the Millonario remains determined to transfer the player, who had already been included in the list of expendable players before the start of the World Cup and is not part of Eduardo Coudet's plans for this season.

Given his level shown at the World Cup and La Banda's stance, several clubs have shown interest in the former Talleres player, including Bologna, which would be the team with the most advanced negotiations to acquire him. According to reports, the Italian club would be willing to pay around 6 million euros for the midfielder's transfer.

If the operation is finalized at those values, River would receive approximately 4.2 million euros, as they hold 70% of his rights (the remaining 30% belongs to T).

A few days ago, the player's agent, Regis Márques, had anticipated that there were several proposals on the table. "We have several offers for Matías Galarza. I will meet with Mati on Monday or Tuesday to discuss the options. One of them is Italy. I want to present him with two to three proposals and then we will bring them to River", he stated in an interview with Fútbol a lo Grande.

In addition to Bologna's interest, Galarza Fonda has also been closely followed by Necaxa from Mexico, a club that in recent years has brought in José Paradela and Agustín Palavecino from River. Atlanta United, for its part, has inquired again about conditions to attempt a new agreement after not executing the mandatory purchase, although so far they have not made a formal offer.

With several teams pursuing him and a valuation that has increased after the World Cup, everything seems to indicate that the Paraguayan's future will be in Italian football, in a deal that will allow River to continue generating income in a transfer market with intense activity.

Since his arrival at the Millonario in mid-last year, and before leaving on loan to Atlanta United, the native of Asunción played only 778 minutes, spread over 14 matches, in which he did not score goals or provide assists and received 5 yellow cards.
