The President of the United States, Donald Trump, stated that Iran has agreed to submit to nuclear inspections “at the highest level” and for an indefinite period, one of the central conditions of the understanding reached after the war that pitted both countries against each other in 2025.
“Iran has fully accepted nuclear inspections at the highest level, for an indefinite time,” Trump declared while referring to the implementation process of the memorandum of understanding recently signed between Washington and Tehran.
The leader maintained that, without this commitment, the negotiations would have been completely ruled out and defended the agreement as a tool to prevent the Iranian regime from advancing towards the development of nuclear weapons.
The United States will release Iranian funds with restrictions
Trump also announced the release of approximately 12 billion dollars belonging to Iran, although he clarified that these resources will not be under the direct control of Tehran.
As he explained, the funds will be managed by the United States and can only be used for the purchase of food, medicine, and American sanitary products, in what he defined as a response to the humanitarian crisis facing the Persian country.
The measure represents one of the first economic reliefs for the Iranian regime after years of sanctions and months of military conflict.
Trump's warning about the Strait of Hormuz
The U.S. president linked compliance with nuclear commitments to the situation of the Strait of Hormuz, one of the most important maritime routes for global energy trade.
Trump confirmed that the passage will remain open, although he emphasized that the U.S. Navy will continue to be deployed in the area and that Washington maintains the capacity to act if it considers that regional security is at risk.
“We could reinstate the blockade if necessary,” he warned.
However, he added that currently that possibility seems unlikely due to the progress of diplomatic talks.
Iran denies having accepted extraordinary inspections
Trump's statements contrast with the position expressed by Iranian officials in recent hours.
