The intelligence operation that the Trump administration thwarted involved inserting agents of the Revolutionary Guard by making them pose as part of the World Cup team
In an interview with the Fox News program Sunday Morning Futures, the Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), Markwayne Mullin, revealed that the Islamic regime of Iran attempted to smuggle spies into the United States by camouflaging them among the members of their delegation for the World Cup.
"We have seen an unusual number of Iranian citizens attempting to enter illegally through our northern border, not through the southern border, because President Trump's policies have closed the southern border. So at our northern border, we have seen arrests of Iranian citizens increasing daily, and we have good collaboration with our Canadian partners, who have also been able to help capture them," Mullin explained.
"It is concerning due to the magnitude of the flow we are seeing and the links we detect when we capture these individuals, as they have direct ties to the Revolutionary Guard," the official from the Trump administration.

The Iran Trap
For this very reason, in seeking to smuggle individuals with direct ties to the Islamic regime, the Trump administration only allowed the Iranian delegation to enter the United States for their matches with 53 people, while most nations have delegations of about 120 people.
"The rest of the individuals that Iran tried to bring also had direct ties to the IRGC and were not part of their usual travel delegation," Mullin warned. "Therefore, these games that Iran plays, unfortunately, make it an adversary that cannot be trusted."
The leak of this intelligence maneuver coincides with a key moment in diplomacy, as this Sunday, Vice President JD Vance met in Switzerland with Iranian representatives to try to move towards a final agreement between the two nations. However, Trump warned that if the regime does not control its proxy in Lebanon -the terrorist organization Hezbollah- bombings will resume.
