The United States announced that it will provide training, technical assistance, and equipment to Bolivia with the aim of strengthening the fight against drug trafficking and criminal organizations operating in the country. The initiative is part of a new phase of bilateral cooperation driven by the Trump administration and the government of President Rodrigo Paz.
According to U.S. authorities, the program will seek to strengthen the operational capabilities of Bolivian security forces through specialized training, information exchange, and provision of resources aimed at improving prevention, investigation, and interdiction tasks against drug trafficking.

The announcement represents a sign of international support for the government of Rodrigo Paz at a time when Bolivia faces significant security challenges. In recent years, various international organizations have warned about the expansion of networks linked to drug trafficking and other organized crime activities in different regions of the country.
From Washington, it was emphasized that the cooperation aims to help Bolivia strengthen its institutions and improve its capacity to confront transnational threats. U.S. authorities noted that combating drug trafficking requires increasing coordination among countries in the region due to the international nature of these criminal organizations.
For the Bolivian government, U.S. support is seen as an opportunity to modernize tools and procedures used by security forces. Additionally, it reflects a rapprochement between both countries on strategic issues related to regional security and the fight against organized crime.
The announcement also has a political dimension. While sectors aligned with Evo Morales have attempted to portray the government of Rodrigo Paz as internationally isolated, the cooperation announced by the United States shows the backing of one of the main Western powers for the security policies promoted by the current administration.

The assistance will focus on improving the response capacity against drug trafficking, strengthening the training of agents, and increasing international cooperation in intelligence and control of transnational crime. Both the Trump administration and Paz's government agreed that the fight against these organizations requires strong institutions and a coordinated long-term strategy.
With this agreement, Bolivia seeks to reinforce its security capabilities while advancing in the stabilization of the country after months of political and social tension, also consolidating a closer relationship with the United States on one of the most sensitive issues for the region.
