Daniel Noboa will make a new official trip to the United States after the setback in the popular referendum.

President Daniel Noboa will embark on a new official trip to the United States between November 18 and 20, 2025, just two days after suffering his first electoral defeat in the referendum and popular consultation. The trip is detailed in Executive Decree 218, issued on November 17.

The Secretary of Public Integrity, Julio José Neira, will accompany the president in the official delegation. So far, the Presidency has not provided details about the agenda that Noboa will follow, although the Decree states that the objective is to strengthen Ecuador's diplomatic and commercial ties.

The trip comes after the electoral setback of November 16, when the majority of Ecuadorians rejected the four questions posed by the government, including the installation of foreign military bases.

In cities such as Manta and Salinas, where Noboa previously met with United States authorities, the "No" vote prevailed by a wide margin.

Noboa replied on the X platform on the night of November 16, stating that he fulfilled his promise to consult the people and that he will respect the citizens' decision. That was his only statement before preparing for a new international trip.

This will be his second trip to the United States in less than two weeks. During the holiday at the beginning of November, the president carried out activities with migrants, participated in the CEAL plenary session, and then attended the presidential inauguration in Bolivia.
