Israel shared with the United States intelligence information warning of a potential new plan devised by Iran to assassinate the president Donald Trump, at a time when the fragile ceasefire between both countries faces increasing difficulties and diplomatic negotiations are going through one of their most delicate moments.
According to sources familiar with the matter, the warning was delivered this week by Israeli authorities to U.S. officials. According to one source, the information referred to a specific plan to target the president's life, while another noted that U.S. intelligence agencies had already detected a steady flow of indications about possible threats coming from Iran, although the Israeli report provided new details about an alleged concrete plot.
So far, the U.S. government has not independently confirmed the veracity of the information provided by Israel. Two sources indicated that U.S. agencies had not previously identified that alleged plan nor had they completed a verification process of the received data.
The terrorist regime of Iran is said to have developed a plan to assassinate President Donald Trump following the rise in tensions in the Middle East
Nevertheless, Washington has maintained for years the assessment that the Iranian regime could attempt to assassinate Trump in retaliation for the military operation in January 2020 that eliminated General Qasem Soleimani, commander of the Quds Force of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard.
During a press conference, Trump stated that he is aware of the threats directed against him and asserted that the Iranian regime considers him one of its main targets.
''They want to eliminate the leader of the United States, me,'' the president declared. Donald Trump added that he had seen reports indicating that he appears on all the target lists drawn up by Tehran and asserted that so far he has been lucky to have avoided any attacks. He also described the Iranian regime as a group of ''evil'' people and maintained that it represents a danger that must be confronted before it continues to expand its capacity to threaten the United States and its allies.
Subsequently, the president noted that he was recently informed of the existence of a new list that would place him as the main target of a potential assassination plan promoted by Iran. However, it was unclear whether he was referring to the report shared by Israel or to other intelligence information.

The threats come after, during the funerals of the deceased Iranian supreme terrorist leader, Ali Jamenei, groups of attendees chanted slogans calling for Trump's death, reflecting the high level of hostility that the Iranian regime maintains towards the U.S. president.
Meanwhile, tensions between Washington and Tehran have increased after the exchange of attacks and threats recorded in recent days, weakening the memorandum of understanding and the cessation of hostilities that both parties had reached weeks ago.
Sources close to the U.S. intelligence community indicated that agencies continue to monitor several individuals and organizations linked to Iran that have discussed possible attacks against current and former U.S. officials, although so far no concrete actions have been detected to execute those plans.

Despite the deterioration of the situation, discreet diplomatic contacts continue to develop between Washington and Tehran with the aim of reaching a nuclear agreement before mid-August. Various officials confirmed that the United States even prepared military operations that could have been executed recently, although they were ultimately suspended to prioritize the diplomatic route.
