In her first press conference at the White House after returning from maternity leave, Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt confirmed on Thursday that President Donald Trump will address the nation to talk about the security of the U.S. electoral system and urged journalists to maintain impartiality and avoid speculating about the content of the message.
"You will be surprised, if you watch it honestly," said the official, who had not held a press conference since April, noting that the presidential speech will be "based on facts." "If we do not have secure and protected elections, we do not have a country," she added.
Leavitt questioned several media outlets and stated that some had spread misinformation about the content of the national address. She clarified that Trump's message will focus on the integrity of the U.S. electoral system, a topic on which she urged journalists to keep an open mind instead of "jumping to conclusions."

Leavitt returns better than ever
In one of the highlights of the conference, Leavitt ridiculed CNN's ultra-democratic journalist, Kaitlan Collins, who sought to question Trump and the evidence the president will present tonight, implying that if no one has been criminally charged with electoral fraud, it would demonstrate that presidential elections in the country are and were secure.
"He has not revealed it yet. He has not declassified the documents. You will see what he says tonight and, from there, we will proceed appropriately," responded the spokesperson for the Republican leader. Another journalist met the same fate as Collins when he asked why the president "cannot move on" from the 2020 elections, to which Leavitt replied: "We should have the most secure and protected elections in world history."
The national address is scheduled for 9 PM (Eastern Time). Trump will be accompanied by his top intelligence officials and promised to reveal information that, as he previewed, would prove Chinese interference in the 2020 elections. Additionally, he will address the economic situation and the current scenario with Iran.
Kaitlan Collins is one of the leading anti-Trump journalists in the media.
