The dissenting hero who caused a mistrial in the case of Lindsay Clancy spoke out publicly for the first time after a fierce backlash from feminists and the left. In a statement, Michael P. Desronvil, a 48-year-old African American man with Haitian roots, responded to the attacks from his fellow jurors, who labeled him "arrogant" and "rebellious".
"I had no doubt. While trying to explain different possible theories during deliberation, they kept interrupting me as if I had doubts based on the evidence presented. Based on all the physical evidence, key witnesses, and what the prosecution presented, I thought it was sufficient proof that she [Clancy] knew exactly what she was doing and planned it," Desronvil stated.
The dissenting juror comes from a large family of Haitian immigrants who moved to the U.S. and settled in Massachusetts in 1982, when Desronvil was 4 years old. Relatives, friends, and neighbors of this man told the New York Post that his family is a respectable and educated group, and that he had recently worked in pest control. People also described Desronvil as a devout Catholic, a fact that Clancy's supporters used to attack him.
