The president Donald Trump led the first night of the historic midterm convention of the Republican Party in Dallas this Wednesday, delivering a masterful closing speech to thousands of attendees where he spoke about Iran, boasted about the agreement with Venezuela, and promised to defeat the opposition in the November elections.
During his address, Trump promised to overcome the midterm election curse: "For some reason, when a president wins, even if he is really a good president or a great president —there aren't many of them—, they don't win midterm elections, and no one really knows why," the president reflected. "We are going to change that. There is no reason for it. There is no reason. It's something deep and psychological."
In this regard, Trump urged voters to "pretend that I am on the ballot" and promised that on November 3, election day, "the great American majority will stand up and continue making America great again". "Midterm elections are not supposed to be won by the sitting president, and we are going to change that, and we will make it an even more important moment in our country and presidency," he added.
As a show of his tireless energy, the head of state said he plans to visit all the key states to help his candidates reach Congress. "I am going to go to each of them, about 35. In a couple of cases, I will go twice, I will do phone events and I will come back to Texas because we have to elect Ken Paxton... If necessary, I will come back two or three times. They will say: 'Get this guy out of here! Get him out!'
On the geopolitical front, Trump boasted about the oil agreement with Venezuela. "It's the largest oil agreement, and it is probably the largest agreement in the history of our country; 65 billion barrels are ours," emphasized the Republican magnate.
Regarding the war in Iran, the president stressed that the Islamic regime would prefer to negotiate with the "dumb and weak Democrats" and anticipated that "the war will end very shortly after the elections". He recalled that, if it weren't for his military intervention, Iran would have obtained a nuclear weapon due to the disastrous agreement that former President Barack Obama signed with Tehran in 2015, known in English as the JCPOA.
"If I hadn't canceled the JCPOA and if we hadn't hit them with our beautiful B-2 bombers, they would have a nuclear weapon right now and I would be talking to them as Supreme Leader", he highlighted.
On another note, true to his disruptive style, Trump joked about continuing his campaign to change names on the geographical map. Following the recent renaming of Lake Ontario to "Lake America," the Republican leader hinted at the possibility of renaming the Pacific or Atlantic Oceans, in addition to reviving his idea of renaming New Mexico as "New America".
