Donald Trump referred this Friday to the null trial declared in the case of the infanticide Lindsay Clancy. The president described the murder of the three young children of the feminist nurse as a "horrible tragedy" and assured that she "will pay a price".
"It's a shame. It's a horrible tragedy. Look, she did something horrible, horrible. It can't be worse", said the president about a case that captivated the American public opinion. "There will be a price," Trump added, predicting that prosecutors will take Clancy to trial again.
This afternoon, the judge presiding over the case, William Sullivan, declared the trial null after the jury, composed of nine women and three men, said they still could not reach a unanimous verdict after seven days of deliberations.
Defense attorney Kevin Reddington confessed to the media that the jury was 11 to 1 in favor of declaring the defendant not guilty by reason of mental health. Fortunately, a patriotic man confronted this injustice and refused to absolve the murderer.
Then, Reddington attempted to remove the dissenting juror, arguing that the juror's notes indicated that this member refused to follow the law, but his request was denied by Sullivan. The defense sought the intervention of the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court to prevent the process from falling apart and received another "no" in response.
Clancy, a 36-year-old nurse, admitted to strangling her three children to death —Cora, 5 years old; Dawson, 3; and Callan, 8 months— in January 2023 inside her home and attempted to commit suicide by jumping out of a second-floor window. Feminists defend her, claiming that she suffered from a severe postpartum mental illness that left her incapacitated to understand that what she was doing was wrong.
