The Justice Department of the government of President Donald Trump sued several sanctuary states for obstructing immigration control operations. The lawsuit targets Washington, Oregon, Maine, and Massachusetts, all of which are governed by Democrats.
The Justice Department stated in a press release that the policies of these Democratic states endanger the safety and operational effectiveness of federal agents. "Law enforcement officers risk their lives every day to keep Americans safe and must be able to perform their duties effectively," said Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche.
The lawsuit alleges that Washington and Oregon have prohibited government agencies such as Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), and Customs and Border Protection (CBP) from obtaining undercover license plates. These agencies use these plates in undercover operations to protect their agents from being tracked by leftist terrorists and groups affiliated with the Democratic Party.
