Following Trump's warning, the United States military reported on Wednesday that it launched strong and decisive attacks against targets of the Iranian terrorist regime in response to Tehran's aggression in the region.
Trump had promised an unrelenting response as retaliation after Iran unexpectedly attacked a base in Jordan housing American troops with missiles.
In another part of the region, a drone attack that is still under investigation caused a fire on two natural gas vessels in the Egyptian port of Damietta —one under a Greek flag and the other American— and no injuries were reported.

A conflict that expands
This morning, Trump reacted to these attacks in Saudi Arabia and Egypt anticipating that a strong response was coming: "We are going to hit them very hard because it's our turn to hit them. They know it's coming. They are asking us not to do it," the president anticipated.
While the U.S. and Saudi Arabia are dealing with Iranian-backed Iraqi militias, another faction responding to the terrorist regime, the Houthi rebels in Yemen, claimed to have attacked Saudi energy facilities as part of a separate but related conflict in the Middle East.
In recent days, Trump had decided to give diplomacy a chance, but the possibility of resuming the path outlined by the Memorandum of Understanding mediated by Qatar and Pakistan a few months ago seems unlikely.
