In recent days, interventions have been recorded on several accounts of the social network X (formerly Twitter) belonging to users with a clearly oppositional profile to the Frente Amplio government. Some have been hacked, while others have been directly suspended by the platform.
The common element is that all are characterized by their sustained criticism of the official management.
These are not profiles dedicated to sports, recipes, or entertainment. They are spaces for political debate where the government's policies, which took office in March 2025, are harshly questioned. As the weeks have passed, the number of cases has increased and now includes accounts with more than 12,000 followers.

Among the affected profiles are @Marcelo_Lombard and @caalf01, which have suffered takeovers or severe restrictions. In the case of @caalf01, a 30-day suspension has been confirmed.
Another example is @ElInformante_1, which was suspended by the platform without any report of a direct hack.
This does not seem to be an isolated or random event. The pattern points to a possible organized attempt to silence critical voices on the main social network for political debate in Uruguay.
Who is behind it?
Although there is no official confirmation or conclusive public evidence linking the government directly, the timing and profile of the affected accounts have raised strong suspicions among opposition sectors.
X account of hacker Enrique Amestoy
Users and observers point out that hackers or groups aligned with the government could be acting in a coordinated manner to limit the visibility of those who question the Frente Amplio.
In this context, it is relevant to recall the statements of Enrique Amestoy, a "cybersecurity expert" and cooperative member in information technologies.
A few years ago, on a program on Tv Ciudad, he self-identified as a “hacker” and even claimed that, according to the dictionary, the definition of a hacker is that of a "computer criminal".
His closeness to sectors linked to the government has been mentioned by those who see in these episodes a possible helping hand from power.
In a consolidated democracy like Uruguay's, it is essential to ensure that all voices can express themselves freely, especially those that represent the opposition and channel the discontent of broad sectors of the citizenry.
Any action aimed at selectively silencing critics—whether through hacks, suspensions, or any other mechanism—deserves a serious and transparent investigation by the competent authorities and by the X platform itself.
Respect for the plurality of opinions is not a minor detail: it is the very foundation of the democratic system.
