Flavio Briatore congratulated Franco Colapinto for his great Miami GP: 'He has performed at the level we expect from him'

“Franco closed a very good week, in which he performed at the level we expect from him every race weekend,” said Alpine's executive advisor. He remarked: “The car is competitive and we need this type of performance, week after week, from both drivers and the whole team to meet our objectives

The Italian contrasting Colapinto's solid task with the unfortunate race of Pierre Gasly, who had to retire in the first laps after a major accident caused by Liam Lawson in the first laps. “For Pierre it's a disappointing result, as the car was clearly in a position to score points. We lost that opportunity because of an avoidable incident, in which he was the victim of a serious miscalculation by another pilot,” Briatore explained

Beyond what happened with Gasly, the balance for the French team was positive thanks to the points provided by Colapinto, which allowed the team to remain competitive in the middle zone. Currently, the French team has 23 units and is in fifth position in the constructors' championship, ahead of Haas. At the same time, its drivers are also well placed in the drivers' table: Gasly is in 9th place with 16 points, while Colapinto is in 11th position

Looking ahead, Briatore announced that the team will thoroughly analyze the performance of the car before the next event in Canada, especially some recent developments that did not yield the expected result. “We are fifth in the Constructors' Championship and we are looking forward, not backward, on what we can achieve,” he

said.

Finally, the Italian highlighted the safety of the organization of the competition to advance the original schedule in the face of possible thunderstorms. “We must congratulate the FIA and Formula 1 for their decisive action, which allowed us to bring the race forward by three hours and ensure that it can be played as planned, taking into account the

weather conditions.”

When Colapinto returns to racing

after the race in Miami, Formula 1 will resume action in three weeks' time with the Canadian Grand Prix. The competition will take place at the Gilles Villeneuve Circuit and will take place between Friday 22nd and Sunday 24th of May
