After several days of tension following controversial statements about his future during the last FIFA date, the situation between Enzo Fernández and Chelsea was put on track. The conflict was resolved after a series of meetings between the club and the player's environment

.

The person in charge of keeping peace of mind was Javier Pastore, former player and current representative of the world champion, who said: “We agree with Chelsea. We made peace yesterday and the day before yesterday between Chelsea and the player. There was never a problem. We set the record straight.”

The controversy originated when Fernández, in different interviews, mentioned that he would like to live in Madrid because of its similarity to Buenos Aires.

In England, those statements were interpreted as a nod to Real Madrid, leading to internal unrest and a two-game sanction imposed by coach Liam Rosenior.

At first, Pastore had described the measure as “unfair” and even slipped the possibility of evaluating a transfer after the 2026 World Cup. However, as the days went by, the discourse changed and the agent himself explained that it was all a misunderstanding amplified by the media

.

“We've talked about this in the past few days. These are statements he made without any intention of causing problems at Chelsea. He is the captain, one of the team's leaders, and he has shown his best level on the field this season. I was simply talking about a city. Then, in a short time, he gave many interviews in which he spoke about his future. The media misunderstood things and began to say that he was going to leave Chelsea. There is absolutely no truth in that,” he said.

In addition, he explained that the football player himself recognized the error and apologized: “What happened, happened. We explained to the player that, although he hadn't done anything wrong, he shouldn't have said that. He's only 25 years old. He's still young, he still has things to learn. We explained to the club that he said it without ill intention, that he made a mistake. Naturally, he apologized to the club, his teammates, the coach, the sports director, to everyone. We are all in agreement. We simply had to clear up the misunderstanding.”

The London club prioritizes closing ranks in the final stretch of the season, with the aim of getting into qualifying positions for the next Champions League.

In that context, Pastore was clear: "Chelsea is fighting for its place in the Champions League through the Premier League, which is very important for the club.”

Finally, he highlighted how necessary it is for the former River to shoot, and that everything was resolved: “Enzo needs to play because he has a World Cup ahead of him. Chelsea needs him because he is a key player for their team. We've talked, we've solved everything on both sides. Things are perfectly clear. There is no conflict. Enzo still has six years left on his contract and we need to work together, which is what we're doing.”

It should be clarified that the sanction was not lifted and that the midfielder is currently complying with it: he has already missed the match against Port Vale for the FA Cup and will not be available against Manchester City either. Their return is scheduled for April 18, when Chelsea will face Manchester United in a key match
