The United Arab Emirates is considering attacking missile bases in Iran while the regional conflict unleashed by Iran after the joint military offensive of the United States and Israel against the Islamic regime expands.

As revealed by Axios, citing two sources with direct knowledge of the matter, Abu Dhabi is considering taking military action to stop missile and drone attacks launched from Iranian territory against its country.

If it were to happen, it would be an unprecedented event in the region.

The analysis of a direct response reflects the level of seriousness that the Emirati authorities attribute to the Iranian offensive, which has impacted civil infrastructure, energy facilities and urban areas.

A source familiar with internal discussions stated: "The UAE is considering taking active defensive measures against Iran. Although he has not participated in the war in any way, he has received 800 projectiles.”

Since the beginning of the conflict, the Emirates has been one of the countries most affected by Tehran's attacks. On the first day of the war, Iran launched missiles and drones against the UAE, Kuwait, Qatar and Bahrain. The following day, the offensive was extended to Oman and Saudi Arabia, amplifying instability across the

Gulf.

As an immediate consequence of the attacks, Qatar had to suspend most of its natural gas production after. In the Emirates, debris from intercepted missiles caused fires in the port of Jebel Ali, while a drone hit a luxury hotel in Palm Jumeirah, in Dubai. In addition, an Iranian drone attacked the US embassy in Riyadh, further raising regional tension

The Iranian attacks

Anwar Gargash, foreign policy advisor to the Emirati president, publicly argued that the Iranian offensive was a strategic mistake. In a message posted on X, he stated that the attacks against the Gulf States “were a miscalculation and have isolated Iran at a critical moment”.

He also noted: "Their war is not against their neighbors, and this escalation only reinforces the narrative that Iran is the main source of danger in the region and that its missile program is a constant source of instability.”

The Emirati Ministry of Defense reported that Iran launched 186 ballistic missiles against the country: 172 were intercepted, 13 fell into the sea and one hit national territory. In addition, 812 drones were detected, of which 755 were intercepted and 57 managed to hit. Three foreigners died and around 70 people were injured

.

“The United Arab Emirates reserves the full right to respond to this escalation and take all necessary measures to protect its territory, its citizens and its residents,” said the Ministry of Defense.
