Javier Milei's historic speech at the Libertad Foundation dinner

President Javier Milei gave a historic speech at the annual dinner of the Libertad Foundation, before more than a thousand business, political and intellectual leaders. With a direct message, the president reviewed the main achievements of his administration, pointed against Kirchnerism, defended the reform program and

assured that inflation will be defeated.

Prior to his dissertation, the president received the Libertad Prize 2026 from Alberto Benegas Lynch (h), whom he described as a hero of Argentine history. Already in his speech, he began with an international message of solidarity with Donald Trump after the recent assassination attempt, and he warned: “We are facing a new rise of political violence, in particular on the part of the left, which must be stopped

in its infancy.”

In this regard, Milei deepened her criticism by pointing out that “they do not accept losing in the battle of ideas or at the polls”, and stressed that liberalism should not underestimate this threat.

He also thanked the Freedom Foundation for its role in defending ideas and anticipated that his presentation would be focused on demonstrating that the ideas of freedom work

One of the central axes of the discourse was the economic heritage and the real achievements of his administration. Milei described the scenario received as critical and warned: “We were faced with a situation where we had four monetary bases due in one day and nine bases due in a month”, which, as he explained, “would have had an explosion in the issuance of pesos that

ended in hyperinflation.”

Along these lines, he pointed directly against Kirchnerism because of the accumulated indebtedness: “During the Macri administration, the debt rose by 60 billion. The remaining 300 billion are all from Kirchnerism,” he said, adding that this process left the country in a situation of extreme

macroeconomic fragility.

The President also charged those who defend that economic model. “It doesn't surprise me that in general they can't add two plus two even with an abacus,” he said, in one of the toughest passages of his speech, where he once again questioned the sectors that promoted policies that led to economic deterioration

.

In this framework, Milei strongly defended the accumulation of reserves and crossed the economists critical of his program: “At this point, we are the government that has bought the most dollars since the return of democracy,” he said, adding: “For every indicator, they find a lie. We can't buy lies from clothed and corrupt journalists

.”

He also celebrated the recovery of economic activity and said that the worst moment was over: “The worst is over, despite the violent attack of politics against an economic program that could not be worn, and that people also supported with 41% in the elections.”

In

turn, it confirmed the direction of its economic program and assured that inflation will be defeated. “This number is horrible, but we are going to defeat it,” he said, and reaffirmed that the Government will maintain its strategy “without departing from orthodoxy”.

Regarding the closure, Milei called for sustained reform and warned of the opposition's attempts to return to power: “Let's not let ourselves be psychoped by the Kukas or give them room to return.” With that message, the president made it clear that his government will advance without concessions in the economic transformation of Argentina
