The director of the British NGO Greenpeace in Argentina, Diego Salas, became one of the most critical figures of environmentalism in the Government of Javier Milei, as part of the debate for the new Glacier Act approved this morning

.

For almost two decades, Salas locally led the organization linked to the United Kingdom, aimed at the economic boycott of countries, holding back development and acting under the agendas and interests of foreign powers.

Throughout the reform debate, the environmental reference focused on questioning the easing of regulations to exploit natural resources, maintaining a position contrary to any modification that would enable new productive projects in certain regions prohibited by the old law.

The reform of the Glacier Law

However, the reform of the Glacier Law marks a profound change in the country's productive scheme. The regulatory update unlocks million-dollar investments in the mining sector, one of the key engines for Argentine economic growth

.

This new framework allows the development of projects that had been paralyzed for years, creating conditions for the arrival of capital and the expansion of activity.

At the same time, thousands of jobs are projected to be created, especially in inland provinces that rely heavily on the exploitation of their natural resources.

In addition, the reform strengthens federalism by returning effective control over these resources to the provinces, allowing each jurisdiction to define its own development model.

One of the problems that Milei's initiative solved is that, in its previous version, the Glacier Law had an imprecise wording that allowed projects to be blocked in areas where there are no real glaciers, based on

ambiguous technical definitions of the periglacial environment.

At the same time, true glaciers will remain protected, since the modification only affects surrounding areas that do not compromise the strategic water reserve.

For these reasons, Greenpeace, of British origin, far from seeking to defend the “environment”, is dedicated to actively promoting a foreign agenda that seeks to destroy the economic development of Argentina, promoting campaigns that hinder the exploitation of the natural resources necessary for this purpose.

In this scenario, Diego Salas emerges as a central figure in the resistance to a model that seeks to transform the country's economic matrix.
