After a few days away from professional activity and surrounded by his loved ones, Lionel Messi is preparing for his return to the United States following the death of his father. The captain of the Argentine National Team and star of Inter Miami will travel to Florida to gradually resume his professional activity after going through family mourning.

According to reports, the footballer plans to return at 10:30 PM Argentina time on a private plane that has been waiting since Monday to take him to Miami. The Little Flea will travel with his wife, Antonela Roccuzzo, and their children, and is expected to arrive on Wednesday morning.

The "10" had arrived in the country from the United States to attend the intimate farewell of his father, who died at the age of 68 after a prolonged illness. During these days, he stayed with his loved ones in Rosario and especially supported his mother, Celia Cuccittini.

Messi returns to Inter Miami after saying goodbye to his father

The farewell for Jorge Messi took place on Sunday in a private ceremony at the El Prado cemetery in Pérez, with the exclusive presence of close family members. The family maintained a marked secrecy and sought to preserve intimacy throughout the gathering.

Due to this difficult personal moment, the former Barcelona and PSG did not participate in the match on Saturday that Inter Miami lost 2-1 at home against Monterrey in the first match of the group stage of the Leagues Cup. In that match, Rodrigo De Paul dedicated his goal to the Argentine by showing a shirt with his teammate's number.

Now, his return to Miami will occur just before Las Garzas play again. The Florida team will face León this Wednesday in the second match of the tournament, and depending on his condition and the decision of coach Ángel Guillermo Hoyos, Messi could play for a few minutes.
