Another of the most relevant agreements corresponds to SpaceX and its artificial intelligence unit, with commitments that could reach USD 120.5 billion.

The magnitude of these figures reflects how the competition to develop more advanced artificial intelligence systems is driving a considerable expansion of technological infrastructure.

Companies specialized in computing capacity also appear, such as Nscale, with agreements for USD 44.6 billion until 2033, and Lambda, with USD 41.3 billion until 2034.

Both participate in the supply of infrastructure and processing resources through specialized equipment.

The contracts Anthropic will have to pay for even if it does not use the services

One of the most relevant aspects of the documentation relates to the contractual conditions agreed upon with the suppliers.

According to Data Center Dynamics, the agreements with Google, Amazon, and Microsoft establish minimum payment commitments that must be fulfilled even when Anthropic does not use all the contracted computing capacity.

In general, these contracts can only be canceled under limited circumstances, such as a serious breach by the supplier that has not been remedied.

The clause allows infrastructure operators to secure future income, while Anthropic ensures the availability of technological resources for its operations.

However, it also implies that the company could be forced to face multimillion-dollar payments even when the actual demand for processing turns out to be lower than its forecasts.

The contract with SpaceX includes different conditions.

According to the information released, Anthropic will be able to terminate that agreement with a 90-day prior notice starting in March 2027.

Furthermore, the documentation submitted to the SEC clarifies that approximately USD 213.8 billion of the total is subject to termination rights or preconditions, such as obtaining financing, the availability of facilities, or certain regulatory approvals.

Therefore, not all reported commitments have the same degree of obligation.

The expansion of artificial intelligence requires increasingly larger investments

The figures disclosed by Anthropic allow us to gauge one of the main economic challenges facing the artificial intelligence industry.

The development of more advanced models requires enormous amounts of processing capacity, data centers equipped with specialized chips, and infrastructure contracts that ensure their operation for years.

The growth of companies like Anthropic depends as much on their technological advancements as on their ability to finance and manage these resources.

In fact, the company's business is undergoing a phase of strong expansion.

According to the financial results submitted to the SEC, Anthropic reported approximately USD 17 billion in revenue during the third quarter of 2026, compared to USD 11.6 billion in the previous quarter.

However, the higher computing costs also pressured its results: after reporting an operating profit of USD 974 million during the second quarter, the company posted an operating loss of USD 567 million in the third.

The contrast shows that revenue growth alone does not guarantee profitability, especially in an activity that requires such high capital investments.

Anthropic's billion-dollar bet raises questions about the profitability of artificial intelligence

The financial commitments of nearly USD 900 billion show the extent to which technology companies are betting on the future growth of artificial intelligence.

Anthropic's strategy is to secure years in advance the processing capacity it will need to develop its products and meet customer demand.

The main question is whether future revenues will cover commitments of such magnitude and sustain profitable growth.

Unlike other digital businesses, advanced artificial intelligence requires constant investments in equipment, energy infrastructure, storage, and computing capacity.

Moreover, the rapid technological evolution introduces uncertainty about future processing needs and the profitability of contracted resources.

In this context, Anthropic's IPO appears as a relevant step to expand its financing possibilities and consolidate its expansion.

Anthropic, the American company responsible for the chatbot Claude, revealed that it has made financial commitments of approximately USD 895.4 billion, almost exclusively aimed at hiring processing capacity, data centers, and the technological equipment necessary to develop its artificial intelligence systems.

The information was presented on Monday, November 2, in an update to its S-1/A form before the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), as part of the preparatory process for its IPO.

The figure reflects the magnitude of the economic resources required for the expansion of artificial intelligence. According to an analysis by Yahoo Finance, the commitments made are equivalent to nearly seven times the USD 132 billion that Anthropic had in cash and short-term investments at the end of September 2026.

The contracts include short, medium, and long-term obligations, some of which will extend until 2045.

Anthropic committed nearly USD 900 billion to develop its artificial intelligence

The documentation submitted to the SEC reveals that Anthropic signed purchase agreements, service contracts, and leases with a total value of USD 895.4 billion, almost all linked to IT infrastructure.

The majority of these resources are intended to ensure access to data centers, specialized processors, and computing capacity, which are fundamental elements for training and executing advanced artificial intelligence models.

The volume of commitments represents a significant jump compared to the figures the company had previously reported.

According to Data Center Dynamics, a media outlet specialized in technological infrastructure, the previously communicated processing capacity commitments amounted to USD 417 billion.

The new filing considerably expands the scope of the financial obligations assumed by the company led by Dario Amodei.

However, the USD 895.4 billion does not represent money that Anthropic has already disbursed, but rather contractual commitments that will need to be met over the coming years. Additionally, some agreements include conditions that allow for their termination.

How much money Anthropic will have to pay over the coming years

The maturity schedule reveals the extent of the financial obligations the company will face.

According to the document submitted to the SEC, approximately USD 69.8 billion will need to be addressed during the twelve months following September 30, 2026.

This amount represents a significant portion of the financial resources available to the company and reflects the immediate financing needs accompanying its expansion.

On a broader horizon, USD 447.5 billion of the total commitments must be executed before December 31, 2030, including the maturities corresponding to the next year.

Meanwhile, almost all of the remaining amount, equivalent to about USD 447.9 billion, will be distributed between 2031 and 2045.

These contracts aim to ensure that Anthropic has sufficient computing capacity to meet the growing demand for its products and continue developing increasingly advanced models.

The company will also face the challenge of generating sufficient revenue to finance its obligations as they come due.

Google, Amazon, and Microsoft are among Anthropic's largest suppliers

A considerable portion of the financial commitments is concentrated in contracts with some of the world's largest technology companies.

Google is among the main beneficiaries of these agreements, with a minimum commitment of USD 121.3 billion, covering the period from April 2026 to July 2033.

The relationship includes the hiring of infrastructure and processing capacity necessary to develop and execute Claude's models.

Meanwhile, Amazon appears with commitments of USD 110 billion until April 2036, consolidating its role as one of Anthropic's main technology suppliers.

Microsoft also makes the list, with a minimum contract of USD 44.9 billion for services that will begin to be provided from November 2026.

These agreements reflect the importance that major cloud service companies have gained within the artificial intelligence industry.

Although companies like Anthropic develop their own models, their operation depends on extremely costly physical infrastructure, the provision of which is concentrated among a limited number of large technology operators.

Broadcom and SpaceX will also receive multimillion-dollar contracts

The commitments are not limited to the main cloud service providers.

According to the analysis published by Yahoo Finance, Broadcom appears with approximately USD 161 billion in technology equipment leasing contracts.

The American company is involved in the development and supply of essential components for data centers, including specialized processors intended for artificial intelligence tasks.
