The Argentina formally enters a new era of development and international trust as a direct consequence of the management led by President Javier Milei and his historic geopolitical alliance with the Government of the United States. In an unprecedented event for the automotive industry and national trade, the iconic multinational of electric vehicles Tesla, founded by entrepreneur Elon Musk, has confirmed the arrival of Tesla in Argentine territory with the opening of its first dealership and exhibition space.
The formal entry of the American technology company is the concrete result of three structural decisions made by the Argentine government in recent months to dismantle the bureaucratic barriers of the past: Bilateral tariff agreement: The signing of a key treaty with the Government of the United States that established a quota of 10,000 cars per year exempt from the payment of the 35% extrazone import tariff. Bureaucratization and automatic homologation: The elimination of the old and inefficient Model Configuration Licenses (LCM) and Environmental Configuration License (LCA), replaced by the immediate automatic homologation of vehicles manufactured under the rigorous international standards of the NHTSA (National Highway Traffic Safety Administration) of the United States.

Increase of the FOB import cap: The increase of the maximum FOB value allowed for imported electric vehicles within the general quota of 50,000 annual units free of tariffs, which rose to USD 35,000, far exceeding the limit of USD 16,000 in effect during the periods 2025 and 2026.
Thanks to this package of pro-market measures, the operational path has been completely cleared for Tesla to begin importing units both from its plants in the United States and from its megafactory located in China. The integrated subsidiary for Argentina and Uruguay will be under the executive leadership of Joaquín Lizarralde, appointed regional CEO with operational headquarters in the City of Buenos Aires.
The expansion project of Tesla will be executed in two well-defined phases between late 2026 and throughout 2027: Phase 1 (End of November 2026): Deployment of an exclusive showcase with the exhibition of two vehicles on Level 1 of the Unicenter shopping mall, located in the town of Martínez, in the northern zone of Greater Buenos Aires. Phase 2 (Year 2027): Inauguration of the definitive sales room and launch of a special test drive circuit equipped with ten vehicles in the Playa H of the parking lot, allowing the public to experience high-tech driving.

The choice of the Unicenter shopping center —belonging to the prestigious Cencosud group— coincides with the massive flow of 3 million monthly visitors that the complex registers and its ambitious reconversion plan that includes 20,054 m² of new constructed area and 16,000 m² designated for rent. In the context of this business transformation, the issuing firm highlighted in a statement that: “The arrival of Tesla is part of the expansion and reconversion plan that Unicenter is undergoing, which will add 20,054 m² of new constructed area and 16,000 m² designated for rent. In recent months, Cencosud announced the opening of a health center by Swiss Medical, the comprehensive renovation of SportClub, and the arrival of the corporate offices of Grupo One, new proposals that expand people's connection with Unicenter beyond traditional shopping”.
Additionally, Tesla will replicate its disruptive direct sales model without traditional intermediaries, similar to that implemented in major global cities like the Chelsea neighborhood in New York, also offering exclusive lines of merchandise such as portable batteries and electric children's vehicles like the Cyberquad and the miniature replica of the Cybertruck.
