The family of Antonela Roccuzzo, wife of Lionel Messi, is moving forward with an ambitious real estate and commercial development in Funes, one of the fastest-growing areas in the province of Santa Fe. The project will be named Raíces de Funes and aims to transform a key corner of the city into a new hub for services, consumption, and recreation.
The venture will be located at the intersection of Almafuerte and Route 9, where the historic property known as “L’Alicia” operated for years. The site, covering four hectares, had been put up for sale months ago and has finally come into the hands of Roccuzzo's relatives, who are already working on the final design of the master plan.
According to the specialized portal InfoFunes, the proposal aims to reconvert one of the most visible and trafficked corners of the urban corridor of Funes. This is a point with heavy vehicle traffic, direct connection to gated communities, shopping centers, and central access points of the city.
Raíces de Funes will be a mixed-use development. The idea is to combine education, sports, aesthetic health, gastronomy, retail spaces, and hospitality within the same area. To achieve this, the project will utilize part of the existing infrastructure and integrate it with new constructions.
The site currently features a main house with three bedrooms, a secondary guest house, changing rooms, storage areas, a pool with a solarium, and sports spaces. Among its facilities, there is a soccer field, a padel court with visible access from Route 9, and two natural grass tennis courts, a rare feature in the region.
The investment is part of a growing trend in the region: the transformation of large residential or weekend properties into modern spaces for services, entertainment, and commercial activity. In recent years, the city has established an increasingly attractive profile for private developments linked to the urban growth of the Rosario metropolitan corridor.
Raíces de Funes is shaping up to be one of the most significant private ventures in the region, with the potential to transform a historic corner of Route 9 and usher in a new phase of commercial development in Santa Fe.
