After the two episodes he suffered during preseason and while he continues to be under medical supervision, Bayern Munich has made a decision regarding Jamal Musiala ahead of the start of the Bundesliga. The German midfielder will not be called up for the debut against Stuttgart and will continue with his treatment before returning to the pitch.
This absence adds to the one he already had in the German Supercup, where the Bavarian team defeated Borussia Dortmund 2-1 and won the first official title of the season. The Munich team prefers not to rush the process and hopes that the evolution of the treatment will determine when he will be fit to return.
The two episodes that caused concern occurred during preseason. The first was on August 15, when Musiala collapsed during a friendly against Leipzig. Three days later, he faced a similar situation against Heidenheim, which led the club to conduct various tests and examinations. After those episodes, the player himself explained the diagnosis he received: "I was diagnosed with brief and temporary absence seizures, but they are treatable, caused by a neurological dysfunction".
Since then, the midfielder has been working individually and following a specific program supervised by Bayern's medical staff. Additionally, the treatment has recently undergone a modification, and the club is waiting to see how he responds before allowing him to compete again.
For his part, Vincent Kompany, the team's coach, confirmed that there have been changes in his treatment and that these have caused some side effects. "Something has changed a bit in his treatment. That has had some side effects", explained the Bayern coach. Nevertheless, he sought to convey reassurance and clarified: "It is completely normal for something different to be tried in a treatment".
The institution also emphasizes that Musiala's situation did not arise suddenly. Max Eberl, the sporting director of the German team, assured that the club has been aware of the player's condition for some time and has been working with him since last season. "We have known about it since last season and have been working with it. For us, it has become something routine", he stated.
For now, Bayern has not set a specific date for the midfielder's return. The intention is to observe the evolution of the treatment and avoid any risks before giving him the green light to compete again.
