The day Alberto and Cristina authorized the installation of a British radar in the south of the country

Throughout the administration of President Javier Milei, Argentina has regained its place in the world, consolidating strategic alliances with powers such as the U.S. and Israel and achieving unprecedented diplomatic milestones, such as the UN calling to review the issue of sovereignty over the Falkland Islands.

However, recent history does not forget the true face of those who today tear their garments: Kirchnerism. While the official narrative of 2023 was filled with "sovereignty," the government of Alberto Fernández and Cristina Kirchner authorized, in an unprecedented act of betrayal, the installation of a British eye in the heart of our Tierra del Fuego.

Just 700 kilometers from the Falkland Islands, the English company Leolabs was authorized to operate in national territory. What was presented under the cynical technical excuse of "monitoring space debris" actually concealed a war footing of the United Kingdom on Argentine soil.

Headquartered in London, this private firm offers both civilian and military solutions, installing radars at strategic points around the globe.

The maneuver was conceived in the shadows of state bureaucracy: first, they founded the subsidiary Leolabs Argentina SRL in Ushuaia. Subsequently, in November 2022, the Subsecretariat of Communications, under the then Chief of Cabinet of the Nation, granted the permit to build this structure in the locality of Tolhuin.

In just a few months, the radar was already operational, violating territorial integrity in the face of the passivity of a submissive national government.

The seriousness of the matter was not just a political interpretation. The Ministry of Defense, faced with compelling evidence, issued a damning resolution: the radar represents a "threat to national security". According to technical reports, this device is capable of:

Monitoring Argentine satellite activity, both in the civil and military spheres.

Intercepting sensitive data.

Observing terrestrial and maritime objects and detecting aircraft.

Despite the urgent protests of veterans of the 1982 war at the entrance to the estate "El Relincho" —the site where the radar was installed— the government of Fernández and Kirchner allowed the system to continue operating.

Behind the company Leolabs in the country, names emerged that directly link the operation to the political power of that time. The legal representative of the firm, Pablo Bilbao, simultaneously served as legal advisor to former national deputy for Tierra del Fuego, Mabel Caparrós.

By September 2023, despite the Ministry of Defense having requested the cancellation and definitive suspension of the radar, no one took responsibility for executing the order. Meanwhile, the device continued sending potentially sensitive information to unknown recipients, leaving the country in a state of absolute vulnerability.

Today, from the distance that time grants in this 2026, it is clear that while other sectors lie with speeches of sovereignty, others, like the current government of Milei, defend it with actions, serious international alliances, and diplomatic firmness. Kirchnerism, on the other hand, left the door open to the invader.
